Book proposals

Our core areas are finance, investing, trading and business, but we do consider non-fiction ideas in other areas.

We do accept unsolicited proposals and part manuscripts, and work from authors without agents, but we ask that in the first instance you send a brief email to commissioning@harriman-house.com, which contains the title and subtitle of your book, a brief description of no more than 100 words, and a short biography.

If we require further information, we will ask you to complete the book proposal form, which can be downloaded below. All proposals are treated with the strictest confidence.

If we do ask for your manuscript, or parts thereof, please issue it electronically wherever possible, do not send originals and ensure you also retain a copy, as although we take good care of works in our possession, it may get archived and will then be unreturnable.

Please allow a minimum of one month for us to reply. This allows enough time for each of the relevant departments to consider the different aspects of your book. We also receive a high number of texts, which are all considered on their own merit, but this process takes time. We will, however, confirm receipt of your email within one week.

If we do not wish to pursue your book any further then we will let you know, but we may not be able to provide an in-depth analysis as to why. Please do not assume that a rejection means that your book is not good enough. It could simply be that it doesn't fit with our list, or that we already have something similar on our list or in the pipeline. We are a small, independent publisher, and, as such, can only print a set number of books per year.
