Testimony: The English version of the bestselling Témoignage

Harriman House

Sarkozy's plan for France published in English

The English translation of Nicolas Sarkozy's political best-seller will be published this week by Harriman House. The release of 'Testimony' coincides this week with Sarkozy’s nomination as the presidential candidate for his party, the UMP.

With over 300,000 copies sold in France last year alone, the book sets out his radical political vision for France and gives a compelling account of his rise to the top of French politics.

A dynamic minister, Sarkozy is no stranger to controversy and attracts adulation and hate in almost equal measure. His wildly enthusiastic supporters on the right see him as the only hope for the future of France, whilst his detractors vilify him for his hard line stance, especially during the riots in 2005.

His book is a wide ranging examination of all the problems facing France: immigration, integration, employment, globalisation, law and order, education, Europe and international relations.

'Testimony' sets a bench mark of French political debate for the elections in 2007 and is a guide for anyone interested in where France is heading at this crucial turning point in its history.

It is also an intensely human book that is part biography, scattered with astute and entertaining comments about political contemporaries - not least Jacques Chirac - by one who, whatever the election result in April, has already indelibly marked the politics of his country.

'Testimony' is due for publication on Thursday 18 January 2007.
