Thousands of political facts in one fascinating book

Harriman House has just published the ultimate quirky reference work for voters, students and politicos in the Westminster village. Infact it's ideal for anyone looking to discover where their vote (and money!) actually go, or for those looking for witty quotes and fascinating titbits.

This new book aims to capture the entertaining essence of politics in a compact format and highly readible way. Politipedia is a fascinating work covering the intricacies of politics in the UK. Packed with curious facts that will make readers laugh out loud, and enough intriguing snippets to provoke some lively debate.

Discover:

- 10 Handy methods for changing government – from election to revolution
- The top 10 political catch phrases (whether they were actually said or not)
- The top 10 back bench revolts
- Diplomatic definitions (depending on whether it is said by 'us' or 'them')
- A guide to the top political insults – including a useful 'Insults Spectrum' to allow you to pick the most appropriate epithet for your opposite number.
- The top 10 ways to avoid answering a straight question – essential for all politicians
- The laws of politics – 30 infallible principles – covering bureacracy to taxation.
- Whether you are rightwing or leftwing – take the test to decide
- A road map to Middle England
- A beginner's guide to Quangos
- The top 10 political slogans –?from "Don’t vote – it only encourages them" to "New Labour, New Danger".
- 10 handy Shakespearian political tips

"When I started writing a book about political trivia all I meant to do was compile some basic, but slightly intriguing lists - 10 prime ministers who wore toupees, that sort of thing. But pretty quickly I realised that a more rewarding (and hopefully interesting!) project would be to pose the sort of question an outsider might pose about the way politics are done in Britain and see what kind of answers I could come up with. I’ve then tried to present the results in language intelligible to any voter whatever his or level of knowledge or curiosity and in a way that will hopefully entertain as well as inform. After all, it's our country and we might just want to ask whether the political system is working as well as it could."
